Yang is owned and operated by head jeweller, April Robertson from her Brisbane based studio.

In 2019, April began studying traditional gold and silversmithing at the Goldsmiths School in Bardon, Queensland before transitioning to learning under the watchful guise of a senior jeweller bearing over 20 years experience.

Honing in deeper on traditional gold smithing techniques, stone setting and various methods of jewellery making, April was completely enamoured by the craft and was already weaving together her pathway in to the jewellery industry.

April launched her first solo jewellery venture under the name Tique Metals in 2020 and it was met with immeasurable successes and support from the community. The first of its kind making dark, organic styles of jewellery incorporating organic matter and semi precious gemstones.

As April continued to explore her skill set and the style of jewellery she wanted to express to the world, she decided to rebrand her original venture from Tique Metals to Yang Jewellery. It was here that April truly settled into her unique style and her capabilities as a jeweller as she began to allow the collision of her darker works with her more sophisticated and refined pieces such as alternative bespoke engagement and wedding sets.

Yang Jewellery became a space space to push the boundaries of traditional jewellery and allow space for truly unparalleled designs to form, with everything from heavily oxidised sterling silver and bone carrying gritty earthen appearances to lush ethereal fine metals wrapping themselves around precious gems such as diamonds and sapphires with grace and finesse. There was no limits to her creativity as Yang Jewellery found it’s mark in the industry.

To this day, Yang Jewellery continues to strive to question the commercial idea of jewellery and create pieces that are visually and conceptually one of a kind using a range of mediums and techniques.
